Not Too Sloppy Grandma’s

This is a tasty sloppy Joe recipe that I have been making for many years now.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 large red pepper (chopped)
1/2 large onion (chopped)
1 – 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
2 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce

Time to cook it up:

Brown the ground beef. Drain if there is an excess of grease.

In a separate pan, saute the red pepper and onion in a little olive oil until soft.

Add the red pepper and onion to the ground beef, stir in the tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and worcestershire sauce. Then simmer on a low flame for about 30 minutes.

Add salt and pepper to your liking and serve on hamburger buns or open face on a piece of bread.

Yield: 6 serverings

This is my own concoction. My husband likes to add Louisiana Hot Sauce to his sandwich to spice things up a bit.

You can substitute green pepper for the red pepper but I like it best with the red pepper.
